First edition. 4to. Cloth backed glazed boards with chromolithograph illustrations to the upper cover. One of the three cover illustrations is by Beatrix Potter. It depicts a rabbit opening the door on a snowy morning to see a gift of a basket full of carrots and other vegetables. Verses inside are accompanied by six transforming pictures. A very good copy, with covers bright, just minor rubbing to the edges. Lacking rear endpaper and with some general wear to contents. Gift inscription dated 1893 to the front free endpaper.
Uncommon and a nice example of an early Potter image.
