First edition. Black cloth with paper title label to the spine. Inscribed by du Maurier on the front free endpaper "Foy - / with love / from / Daphne / October 25 1940" A very good copy indeed.
Following the success of Rebecca Du Maurier decided to write this stage adaptation of her novel. She had been furious with the film of Jamaica Inn, " Don't go and see it, it is a wretched affair", she told her publisher, Victor Gollancz.
PROVENANCE: From the library of Foy Quiller-Couch, daughter of Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch and close friend of Du Maurier.
