First edition, first state with uncut pages and adverts dated August 1906. Original green cloth lettered in gilt, top edge gilt. A very good copy with a trace of wear to the corners and a couple of short tears to the spine ends. Endpapers foxed with an ownership name and slightly fragile hinges.
One of a comparitively small number of the first printing (itself only 1500 copies) with uncut page edges. "A large proportion of the fifteen hundred copies printed were issued with the edges deeply ploughed, to meet the wishes of the circulating libraries." - Wise (A Conrad Library)
