Five volumes, limited to 1000 sets, each signed by Ruskin. Finely bound by Douglas Cockerell for W.H.Smith, in full green morocco with gilt ruled border and punched dot motif to edges and corners. Hambleden vignette of an arm grasping an oak branch to both covers. Raised bands to spine with gilt titles and geometric dot and rule design to sections. Wide morocco turn-ins with gilt borders. One hundred finely engraved plates, including one colour plate in the manner of an illuminated manuscript in Vol. III. A fine set, with a slight bump to one corner. A sumptuous set of this standard work on artists and their methods.
