First edition, large paper issue deluxe, number 44 of 75 copies signed by the author with a supplementary volume of tied flies. Two volumes, both bound in publisher's half red calf with gilt titles and decoration to the spine. Top edges gilt, others uncut. Volume one contains 45 plates, consisting of nine plates of flies (reproducing those in vol. two), 18 colour charts and 18 mounted photogravures on India paper. Further illustrations in the text. Volume two contains 33 actual tied flies, tied by Hardy Bros or C. Falrow's, according to the author's specific instructions, displayed in sunken compartments on nine heavy board mounts. A very good set indeed with some wear to the spine and corners, but internally fine with some spotting to the mounts in volume two but all flies in perfect condition.
