First edition. One of 750 copies. In the publisher's red cloth, lettered gilt to the spine in the original buff printed dustwrapper. Signed by Simon opposite the title page. A very good copy in a good dustwrapper, with an L-shaped chip 40mm deep to the head of the spine, and some wear to the corners and edges.
Simon's catalogue of his personal collection of books on Gastronomy printed before 1861, "is not a Bibliography but the Catalogue of a very personal Library, a Catalogue of some of the books which have given me considerable pleasure to collect in the course of the past half-century, wherever I could find them, and whenever I could afford them".
The Catalogue was produced to coincide with the donation of Simon's library to the Wine And Food Society to "be a source of pleasure and profit to students and bibliophiles in years to come".
