[Sammelband on Wine] Le Clos De Vougeot Et La Romanee-Conti 1. Le Clos de Vougeot et la Romanee-Conti par Auguste Luchet (Paris, 1859). 2. L'Ile De Madere Et La Verite Sur Ses Vins par Alfred Smyth Nouvelle Edition (Paris 1878).3. Tables Indiquant La Richesse En Alcool Des Melanges Alcooliques par E. H. Von Ba
1859.
Nine works bound in one volume. 8vo. Bound in twentieth century blue cloth, manuscript title label to spine. Most paper wrappers bound in. A very good set. Internally the works are generally clean, a couple of paper wrappers have wear to the edges, or have been backed onto paper.
A sammelband of several uncommon nineteenth century works on wine and the wine trade, chiefly published in France.
It contains two copies of Auguste Luchet's uncommon Le Clos de Vougeot et la Romanee-Conti, his history of the two famous vineyards. There are two works on Madeira and Port by the wine merchant Alfred Smyth, who was based on the Rue De Maubeuge, Paris.
Von Baumheuer's Tables Indiquant La Richesse En Alcool... is uncommon. We have traced no copies of the work in commerce, and twelve in libraries.
The work on Phylloxera, the insect whose proliferation devastated French wine production in the late nineteenth century, is rare. No copies have been traced in commerce, there is no copy at the BNF, and just one copy located worldwide (Kew).
