A Bear No Matter How He Tries Grows Tubby Without Exercise
The Christopher Robin Verses Being "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six" with a preface for parents.
Methuen, 1932.
First edition of this combined book of verses, with new colour illustrations by E.H. Shepard and a new preface by A.A. Milne, first issue with blue cloth, gilt lettering and vignette. This copy complete with the original pictorial dustwrapper, with printed price of 8/6 net. 8vo. Top edge blue. Twelve colour plates and many line drawings by E.H. Shepard. A near fine book, in a very good dustwrapper, which has some minor nicks and browning to the spine. Gift inscription to front endpaper.
It was always probable that, sooner or later, the two books of verse which I had written for and about children would come together within the covers of one volume... the invention of a title has proved too much for me. All I can think of is The Christopher Robin Verses. New colour illustrations by E.H. Shepard accompany Milne's now famous poems, Vespers, The King's Breakfast, Lines and Squares and many others.
