First edition, first issue with "All rights reserved" printed on the title page. 8vo. Red cloth lettered in gilt and with pictorial onlay of Samuel Whiskers to the upper cover. Pictorial endpapers, eighteen colour plates and many line drawings in the text. A fine copy with an ownership name to the half title and a little light foxing to the preliminary leaves.
This book was later published under the title of "The Tale of Samuel Whiskers" and was produced in the smaller format with paper covered boards.
