PUBLISHER'S DELUXE BINDING
The Tailor of Gloucester
F. Warne & Co., 1903.
First published edition. 12mo. In the publisher's deluxe binding of floral cloth with white buckram title labels lettered and bordered in gilt. Twenty-seven full page colour illustrations by the author. A very good copy indeed, spine a little tanned, but generally clean and bright.
The majority of first edition copies of this book were bound in the usual paper covered boards, but it was always Potter's idea to produce a small number of 'deluxe' copies, bound in cloth. After collecting many samples she settled on a "flowered lavender chintz", from the stock of her Grandfather's Manchester print works, Edmund Potter & Co. of Dinting Vale, Manchester. This delightful tale was described by Potter as her own favourite of the little books.
