A Useful Collection of Up-to-date, Practical Recipes by five of the leading Culinary Experts in the United State : Mrs Mary J. Lincoln, Lida Ames Willis, Mrs Sarah Tyson Rorer, Mrs Helen Armstrong, Marion Harlnd
The N.K. Fairbank Co., 1910.
First edition. 12mo. Original pictorial card wrappers. A very good copy indeed of an ephemeral item, with a little wear to the spine ends but overall still bright and attractive.
The N.K. Fairbank Company produced a baking product called Cottolene (Cottonseed Oil and Oleo Stearine) made from the waste products of the cotton and beef industries and was the first mass-marketed alternative to lard. This book of recipes was created to promote the use of Cottolene and was issued in conjunction with an extensive advertising campaign, which resulted in the use of Cottolene in home baking until the 1960s.
