First Rackham edition, deluxe issue, number 166 of 460 copies, signed by Rackham on the limitation page. 4to. Original full vellum with gilt titles and decoration. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Pictorial endpapers with striking silhouette designs (faint tape marking to corners). Twelve tipped-in colour plates by Rackham, as well as seventeen full page black and white illustrations and eleven smaller line drawings in the text. A near fine copy, bright and crisp, with just a little colour variance to the vellum.
Rackham described his images for these stories as, "... so horrible I was beginning to frighten myself."
