WITH WORDSWORTH'S SIGNATURE TIPPED IN
The Poems of William Wordsworth With Introductions and Notes. Edited by Thomas Hutchinson, M.A.
Oxford University Press, 1916.
Oxford edition. 8vo. Finely bound in half blue morocco over lighter blue cloth, lettered and with compartments in gilt to the spine. Top edge gilt. Signature of Wordsworth tipped in to front endpaper. A very near fine copy, with just a touch of rubbing to the spine ends.
A handsomely bound collected edition of Wordsworth's poems, enhanced by an early owner with the signature of the poet tipped in. The book is arranged into sections such as 'Poems of Fancy', 'Poems of Imagination and 'Poems of Childhood' and including famous works such as 'I wandered lonely as a cloud' and 'The Prelude'. Wordsworth, along with Coleridge, was one of the founders of Romanticism, writing his poetry in the language of the people rather than in the elevated style that had previously been popular.
