Fourth edition. 8vo. Handsomely bound in half green morocco over green boards, gilt lettering and vignettes to the spine and with raised bands. Folding engraved frontispiece and 12 further engravings, 10 folding. A very good copy, with some minor rubbing to the binding and a short newspaper cutting to the front endpaper.
William Forsyth served as superintendent of the royal gardens at St James' and Kensington Palaces from 1784 until his death, and was a founding member of the Royal Horticultural Society. His eminence led to his treatise on fruit-trees becoming a classic horticultural work, running through seven editions in 22 years.
