In the preface the author addresses his readers, "You will find here a collection of verses and stories, mostly about a little boy called Christopher Robin. Every piece of poetry has a music of its own... If you can find words which keep time to the music, and which are just the words for what you want to say, then the verses you write are verses which sing themselves into people's heads and stay there forever."
