First edition. 8vo. Brown buckram, lettered and decorated in gilt, with colour plate onlay to the upper cover. Top edge gilt and others uncut. Gold endpapers. Thirty wonderful colour plates, with rich warm colours. A very good copy indeed, the covers bright. A couple of superficial splits to the rear hinge, though still sound. Short closed tear to the plate opposite p. 90, not affecting the image.
Fairy tales include The Snow Queen, The Toy princess, The Frog prince, The Red Shoes, Twelve Dancing Princesses and many more. Kate Cameron, sister of David Young Cameron, was a Glasgow School artist, working at the same time as Jessie M. King and Mackintosh. Her work is infused with Celtic charm.
