Original green-stained vellum, elaborately titled and decorated in gilt. Top edge gilt, others uncut, with silk green ties. Housed in a custom made fleece-lined green slipcase with matching silk green pull. Twenty-six colour tipped in plates, mounted on grey art paper with decorated borders, under captioned tissue guards. Text printed in grey with floral headpieces on each page. Chapter headers and tailpieces by Nielsen in line. A fine copy of a most beautiful book, the covers bright with only some light rubbing to the corners, in a fine slipcase. A magnificent copy.
Nielsen's first commission, remaining one of the most beautiful books to come out of the "Golden Age" of book illustration. This deluxe edition contains two extra plates not present in the trade edition.
