First published edition, limited issue (published a day before the trade issue). No. 216 of 750 copies. Original quarter pigskin and buckram with gilt titles to the spine and gilt sword vignette on upper cover. Top edge gilt. Fifty-one plates (including four in colour) and four folding maps. A fine copy with the susceptible pigskin in excellent order and just a little foxing to the foreedge.
The author's magnum opus and most notable work, it was published for friends in 1922 and for subscribers in 1926. In order to protect the rarity of the subscriberss edition, Lawrence forbad its publication until his death. This is the first edition made generally available.
