WILDE, Oscar A Woman of No Importance
John Lane, 1894.
First edition. Original mauve cloth with gilt decoration to the covers and spine. A very good copy indeed with fading to the spine and a littl dustiness to the cobers, but the gilt is bright and the binding shows only trivial wear to the corners. Internally very fresh with a short tear to the front endpaper. An unusually well preserved copy.
A Woman Of No Importance opened at the Haymarket Theatre on April 19th 1893, having been composed while staying at Babbacombe, Torquay for the previous summer season. The first edition was published towards the end of 1894, in an edition of only 500 copies.
Mason 365.
