First edition. Number 56 of 765 copies in the Edition de Luxe, signed by Rackham. Large 4to. Quarter vellum over ivory parchment boards, decorated with gilt lettering and vignettes. Top edge gilt and page edges untrimmed. Printed on fine hand made paper. Pictorial endpapers, nine tipped in colour plates, each mounted on grey art paper and protected by captioned tissue guards. Numerous line drawings in the text. A very good copy, very slight dustiness to the vellum and previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown.
This deluxe edition is far superior to the trade edition, using finer paper, with tipped in plates and has an extra illustration, the frontis, which is beautiful and not present in the trade edition.
