The Defeat of Youth
Blackwell, 1918.
First edition. Original patterned wrappers with title labels to spine and upper cover. Housed in a bespoke slipcase and chemise. A very good copy with some wear to the spine and tanning to the title labels. Some pages uncut.
Huxley's third book. Written in the form of a sonnet, The Defeat of Youth subverts the traditional form as Huxley animadverts that old value systems and the formats common to them no longer function, but that art continues as the poet makes art at art's expense.
