Stamboul Train
Heinemann, 1932.
First edition. Original black cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in stylish pictorial dustwrapper designed by Youngman Carter. A near fine copy with bookplate to front pastedown, in a very good dustwrapper indeed with a little wear to the head of the spine and two short closed tears.
The author's fourth novel, and his first to gain commercial and critical success, takes the form of a thriller set on the Orient Express (the American edition is entitled Orient Express, and there was a film adaptation of the novel in 1934 of the same name).
PROVENANCE: Bernie Taupin (Lyricist and noted book collector. Blind stamp to front endpaper).
