INSCRIBED FOR THE BRITISH AMBASSADOR TO WASHINGTON
White House Years
Little, Brown & Co., 1979.
First edition. 8vo. Publisher's blue cloth, lettered gilt, in decorative dustwrapper. Inscribed by Kissinger to the half title "To John Freeman with the admiration and affection of his friend, Henry A. Kissinger" A fine book, in a very good dustwrapper, price-clipped and with a small scuff.
John Freeman was British Ambassador to the United States from 1969 - 1971, where he became good friends with Henry Kissinger.
In 2004, files in the National Archives revealed the closeness of Kissinger's relationship with Freeman. Kissinger's confidence was such that he felt able to confide his unguarded opinions of Nixon's advisers to him, "I have never met such a gang of self-seeking bastards in my life... I used to find the Kennedy group unattractively narcissistic, but they were idealists. These people are real heels."
