The Atlantic edition, complete in 28 volumes. Number 378 of 620 sets of the English issue, signed by the author in volume one. Publisher's red buckram, lettered in gilt to spine and upper cover. Top edge gilt, other uncut. Photogravure of the author as a frontispiece to volume I. A very good set, spines uniformly faded, marks to a couple of the covers.
H.G. Wells (1866-1946), novelist and journalist, is most famous for his early futuristic 'scientific romances, The Time Machine, The Island of Dr Moreau, The Invisible Man and The War of the Worlds. The Atlantic edition is the definitive set of Wells' works, and one which the author oversaw and edited earlier works for.
