PETERS, Carl New Light Dark Africa Being the Narrative of the German Emin Pasha Expedition

Ward, Lock and Co., 1891.

First English edition. 8vo. Brown pictorial cloth with gilt titles. Thirty two full page engravings and many illustrations in the text from drawings by Rudolf Hellgrewe. Lacks the map. A good copy, some wear to the boards and general signs of use.

A German counterpart to Stanley's "In Darkest Africa", this represents Peters' journey to find Emin Pasha on the Upper Nile, but approaching from Africa's east coast.
