Richard Bentley & Son, 1877.

Burton extensively revised and added to his previously published "Scinde; or The Unhappy Valley", 1851, creating in effect a new work in "Sind Revisited". It details his account of his travels in Sindh, in present-day Pakistan, from 1844 to 1849. Before embarking on his career as one of the leading explorers and adventurers in the nineteenth century, Burton was an officer in the Indian Army where he was seconded to the Indian Survey in Sindh. He was required to assess the morale of the local population and in order to do so Burton utilised his astonishing ability to learn languages and disguise himself so successfully that he was able to pass himself off as one of the indigenous peoples.
