Original quarter blue goatskin with buckram cloth boards and gilt titles to the spine in original plain tissue dustwrapper with title label to spine. Marbled end papers and text printed on antique laid paper. A fine copy. The tissue dustwrapper has a crease to the front panel and a few short closed tears.
The author's most famous book and one of the most notorious books of modern times. The Satanic Verses was deemed to be against Islam, the Prophet and the Koran, causing the late Ayatollah Khomeini to issue a fatwa on it's author, declaring him an enemy of Islam whose blood should be shed, causing Rushdie to go into hiding for almost twelve years.
