Merry-Go Round Calendar for 1900
Raphael Tuck, 1900.
A delightful moveable calendar shaped like a Merry-go Round. There is a revolving wheel, from which dangle six little boats each with two riders, either feline or canine. The calendars for two months are printed on the outside of each boat. Below the wheel sits a group of dogs watching and awaiting their turn. The artist is unnamed, but the cats are similar in style to those drawn by Louis Wain and G.H. Thompson. This beautiful piece of ephemera is in very good condition indeed. There are some light scrapes and the rear of apparatus is strengthened. An excellent example of Tuck's early colour printing and novelty items.
