A Rage to Live

O'HARA, John

O'HARA, John A Rage to Live

Cresset, 1950.

First UK edition. Red cloth with black lettering and printed dustwrapper. A fine book in a very good+ dustwrapper, which has a 2cm closed tear to the upper spine joint.

This was O'Hara's fourth novel, the first in eleven years, and became a best seller. O'Hara said of it "[my early books] were special books about specialised people; but this is the big one, the over-all one", and The New York Times called it his "most ambitious book. It is by no means entirely successful, but it does express a vibrant vitality." It was made into a successful film in 1965.
