First edition with illustrations by Dudley Tennant, deluxe issue. Number 167 of 500 copies signed by both poet and artist. Original publisher's creamy vellum with gilt lettering and decoration. Top edge gilt. In original publisher's paper moire slipcase. Pictorial endpapers. Twenty mounted colour plates, one with faint corner crease, under captioned tissue guards. A very good copy, spine a little darkened. One silk tie remaining, detached and loosely inserted. The slipcase is intact but has a few cracks along two edges and a damp stain.
A lovely production, with Tennant's illustrations and Wilcox's poetry. Wilcox's now famous poem " Solitude", which begins with the lines, "Laugh, and the World laughs with you; Weep, and you weep alone;" is included in this book of verse.
