First edition. Blue cloth in pictorial dustwrapper, designed by William Heaton Cooper. Signed by the expedition party on the front free endpaper. Twelve signatures, lacking only Charles Wylie and the sherpas. Illustrated with eight colour and 48 black and white photographic plates as well as diagrammatic drawings in the text. A very good copy with some sunning to the spine in a near fine (supplied) dustwrapper, which is clean and bright.
The full list of signatures comprises: John Hunt, Edmund Hillary, Wilfrid Noyce, Michael Ward (Doctor), Tom Bourdillon, George Lowe, Tom Stobart, (Cameraman), Michael Westmacott, Charles Evans, Griffith Pugh (Physiologist), George Band and Alfred Gregory.
The chapter on attaining the summit is written by Sir Edmund Hillary and the appendices by other members of the expedition party.
