Decline and Fall
Chapman & Hall, 1928.
First edition. Original red and black patterned boards lettered in gilt, in green pictorial dustwrapper designed by the author. Six full page line drawings by the author. A near fine copy with a hint of fading to the spine,in a very good dustwrapper, which shows the almost inevitable toning to the spine and fading to the spine lettering, but the panels remain clean and bright. Some wear to the spine ends and a closed tear to the front joint internally repaired. Overall, a well preserved example of scarce and fragile book.
The author's brilliant first novel, described by Connolly as "anarchic and experimental, surely one of the wittiest and most original of first novels."
