Tales of Mystery and Imagination
Harrap, 1923.
First colour illustrated edition. 4to. Publisher's deluxe binding of brown roan with border of small gilt squares to the upper cover and gilt lettering and vignette on the spine. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Tipped in colour frontispiece and seven tipped in colour plates, as well as twenty-four tipped in full page black and white illustrations and numerous vignettes by Clarke. A very good copy indeed, minor wear to spine ends and with a couple of scratches to upper cover, with light internal foxing.
This edition introduces Clarke's hauntingly beautiful tipped in colour plates for the first time, a 1919 edition of the book features only Clarke's black and white drawings.
