A pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses in a brown case with the hand written label: 'E.A. TAYLOR. GREENGATE KIRKCUBRIGHT.', another pair of tortoiseshell glasses in a black case with the hand written label: 'DISTANCE', and a small Pollock & Stewart box with an assortment of travel brushes, fountain pens and pencils with 'PLEASE RETURN BOX' on the lid. Condition is generally very good, with some wear.
This selection of artefacts are part of a varied archive of items released from Merle Taylor's estate. Discovered in an old tin trunk, these intimate objects of E.A. Taylor and Jessie M. King, give us insight into their daily lives.
Ernest Archibald Taylor, a Scottish artist, was known for his oil paintings, watercolours, etchings, furniture designs and stained glass. E.A. Taylor trained as an artist at the Glasgow School of Art, where he met his wife Jessie M King.
