The Bell Jar

[PLATH, Sylvia] LUCAS, Victoria

The Bell Jar - ,

Heinemann, 1963.

First edition. Original black boards in pictorial dustwrapper. A fine copy in a near fine (price-clipped) dustwrapper which shows some wear to the spine ends and a couple of minor creases, but is unusually well preserved by the standards of this fragile dustwrapper.

The author's only novel, initially released under a pseudonym. It is a semi-autobiographical account of the book's main protagonist, Esther Greenwood's, descent into mental illness. Plath committed suicide a month after the book was published.
