First one volume edition with Heath Robinson's illustrations. 8vo. Original red cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in pictorial dustwrapper. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Illustrated in line throughout by William Heath Robinson. A very good copy in a very good dustwrapper, strengthened with tape to the head of the spine and top corners.
The works of Rabelais illustrated by William Heath Robinson were commissioned by Grant Richards and first published as two large quarto volumes in 1904. Heath Robinson "chose a grotesque style which emphasized the earthiness of the epic while overlooking the bawdy"
