First edition with illustrations by McCormick. 4to. Green cloth with gilt lettering and embellishments. Pictorial endpapers and 12 mounted colour plates accompany the verse. A near fine copy, with some browning to preliminaries and foxing to the edges, but otherwise remarkably clean.
As well as the eponymous poem, this collection includes Ode for Trafalgar Day, The Fighting Temeraire, Admirals All, The Sailing of the Longships and Songs of the Fleet. The illustrations by McCormick are perfect accompaniments for Newbolt's stirring and highly patriotic verses.
