Quarter cream cloth over black paper boards, paper title label to the spine. Top edge gilt. Complete with original glassine. Thirty nine beautiful full page black and white illustrations. A near fine copy, touch of fading to the top edge.
A very handsome production, Burns's illustrations and calligraphic text being stunning and dramatic blends of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Arts & Crafts styles, which complement the ballads perfectly. The five traditional Scottish ballads include "Twa Corbies" and "The Cruelle Sister".
