First edition. Original orange cloth lettered in black to the spine in a pictorial dustwrapper. A near fine copy with ownership inscription to front endpaper, in a very good dustwrapper with a large price clip, two small holes towards the base of the spine, and a shallow chip to the head of the spine.
Narayan's second book, and the second in his semi-autobiographical trilogy following 'Swami and Friends', 'The Bachelor of Arts' was published with the help of his lifelong friend Graham Greene, who penned the introduction for this novel.
