First edition with illustrations by M.E. Gray. 4to. Blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration to the spine and a pictorial onlay to the upper cover. Pictorial endpapers. Inscribed by M.E. Gray to the front endpaper, "To my darling Peg who was "Meg" with love and endless thanks from this M.E.G." Pictorial endpapers, twelve colour plates, by M.E. Gray, all mounted under protective tissue guards. A near fine, bright copy, with just small creases to the tissue guards of the frontis and ninth plate. A very bright and clean copy.
One of the few illustrated gift editions of this classic tale, this copy warmly inscribed by the artist to the model she based her drawings of Meg March upon.
