First edition, secondary binding. 4to. Lavender cloth with lettering and decoration in black. Patterned endpapers. Each page with a decorative border and chromolithographs. A near fine copy, some light spotting to endpapers. Bookplate to front pastedown.
Tipped in at the beginning of the story is a publisher's introduction, "the original of this remarkable achievement of his boyish days, written, drawn, and coloured by hand in 1842 - that is, when the artist was quite a boy" (18 years old) "Every page is fully illustrated and surrounded with a border of different design brimful of humour, and neither trouble nor expense have been spared to reproduce the original in exact fac-simile."
