The first appearance of Philip Larkin's work in a published book. Until this point, Larkin's poetry and stories had appeared only in periodicals, firstly in The Coventrian as a schoolboy and then as a student chiefly in Arabesque and Cherwell.
One of 500 copies printed, the collection includes three Larkin poems; A Stone Church Damaged by a Bomb, Mythological Introduction and I dreamed of an outstretched arm of land, the last of which was later published in Larkin's first book The North Ship, in 1945.
