Inscribed by Graves for the poet David Sutton, and his wife Gillian, "David and Gillian, affectionately, from Robert - 1969", with a manuscript poem by Graves, 'Poisoned Day' added to p. 180. A very good copy in a very good dustwrapper, a little rubbed and worn.
Robert Graves first encountered Sutton's work while in hospital in 1966 and became something of a champion for the younger poet. In 1969, the same year he inscribed this book, he contributed an introduction to Sutton's debut collection Out On A Limb.
