The Grimm Brothers' version of Sleeping Beauty. Errol Le Cain's illustrations are "the most beautiful, haunting and imaginative that even this gifted artist has produced" (Blurb) This book was short listed for the Kate Greenaway medal in 1975. Writing Le Cain's obituary Phyllis Hunt, his editor at Faber, wrote " He was fascinated by myths and legends of all times and places, and there was a certain strangeness in his art that made him the perfect illustrator for fairy tales."
