Top edge gilt and others untrimmed. 32 beautiful colour plates all mounted on brown art paper and protected by captioned tissue guards. A very good copy of this lovely book, vellum a little dusty.
This is Goble's first gift book and what a triumph it is. One of the most beautiful versions of Kingsley's tale ever to have been produced. A contemporary review said, "Goble in his thirty-two beautiful colour plates... delights us. He has given us sand and sea, fish and fairies which captivate us at once; for delicacy of colouring and grace of line he has bettered his best, and the volume is a continuous pleasure."
