Richard Daft (1835-1900) was among the leading batsmen of his day (1858 to 1891), and was regarded as one of the country's best professional batsman, playing for Notts Country and the All England Eleven. Two of his most notable innings were in 1862 playing for North against South and 1872, turning out for the Players against the Gentlemen, both games held at Lord's In Kings of Cricket he holds forth about the players of his time, offering fascinating insights into the life of a pro cricketer during the late 19th century.
This book is uncommon, by dint of its limitation and susceptibility of the morocco binding. It is also not routinely signed, as this is. The copy in the Eagar Collection (Christies, 2005) which was rebacked with new spine and corners and not signed, sold for £960.
