Orlando A Biography
Hogarth Press, 1928.
First trade edition. Original orange cloth in pictorial dustwrapper. A fine copy in a very good dustwrapper indeed, which shows minor wear to the spine ends and a small nick from the rear corner.
Preceded by some nine days by the signed limited edition published in America, this trade edition is now much scarcer in a dustwrapper.
An imaginative novel which traces the development of the main character who begins as an Elizabethan nobleman and, during the reign of Charles II, awakes from a deep sleep as a woman. The female heroine is based on Vita Sackville-West and many critics suggest that this novel is used by Woolf to demonstrate her passion for Sackville-West.
