First edition. 4to. Number 64 of 100 copies signed by Christopher and Lettice Sandford. Bound in the publisher's green buckram, gilt vignette to upper cover and gilt titles to spine. Woodcut title page, one full page wood-enrgaved illustation and many smaller decorative engravings in the text. A near fine copy, the spine a little tanned.
The last book printed by the Chiswick Press at Took's Court, its home for over 100 years. Sandford contributes an interesting postscript, titled 'The Typographer's Jottings', detailing this history and how The Magic Forest sits within it.
