First edition. Publisher's pebble-grained cloth with title label to spine, in the original dustwrapper. Inscribed by Betjeman on the front free endpaper, "Inscribed for Vivien and Graham Greene by John Betjeman". Loosely laid in is an undated Christmas card from Betjeman, signed "John Betjeman *mist supplied by Oxonian Press Ltd, Queen Street, Oxford." A very good copy in a good only dustwrapper, with a long closed tear amateurishly repaired with old tape.
An excellent association copy of an early Betjeman collection, inscribed by him for Graham Greene and his wife Vivien. Betjeman was friends with both Greenes, and remained a correspondent of Vivien's following the breakdown of her marriage to Graham.
