First edition, deluxe issue. 12mo. Green moiré silk with gilt lettering and colour onlay showing Jemima on upper cover. All edges gilt. Pictorial endpapers and 27 colour illustrations by the author. A fine, bright copy. Contents are tight and fresh with none of the usual finger marks.
Warne asked Beatrix Potter to provide a design for a deluxe edition of her book, a small number were produced in a fine, silk moiré cloth, the page edges gilded and the design to the covers embossed in gilt. These deluxe copies sold at the higher price of 1/6-, rather than the usual 1/- for the standard paper covered copies.
